A medevac helicopter crashed off Catalina Island on Wednesday night. The Eurocopter EC-135-P2 aircraft crashed while transporting a patient from the island to the mainland for further care. Two people, identified by the FAA as the pilot and a cabin crew member, were killed in the crash. Another crew member and a passenger were rescued from the water and transported to mainland hospitals in stable condition. A search is underway for a fifth missing soul. The Eurocopter is under 240 feet of water and the NTSB will be on-site to extract the helicopter to a secure forensic facility.
