GPS Interference Disrupts Commercial Flights in Europe and USA

Severe GPS interference affected commercial air traffic over Sweden on September 17 – 18. Two United Airlines airliners were also affected in the LAX airspace the next week . The incidents affected multiple long-haul flights, requiring the crews to use alternate navigation procedures. Similar incidents have also affected KLM and Air Canda flights over northern Europe. The European instances are suspected to be associated with Russia or Russian-aligned provacteurs.
